Principal Consultant - Engagement & Research - Utilities

London, England, United Kingdom

Description

Want to build a business where every voice counts, and contribute to improving the most complex and controversial of public projects?

Traverse helps organisations to understand what the communities and people affected think about their projects and proposals. We use transparent processes and evidence-based tools to engage and weigh every voice, personal and professional, whether loudly proclaimed or seldom heard. We work with governmental, third sector and businesses delivering public services or social change. Our clients rely on us when the issues are thorny and good decisions matter; from health and social care integration to airport expansion, social isolation to the future of energy generation.

Traverse was established in 1989 as the UK’s first employee-owned “public interest” company. Today, we are a highly successful and fast-growing research and consultancy organisation. We are passionate about making a difference and this passion motivates us to deliver high quality services and outcomes for our clients.

We are specifically looking for a Principal Consultant to expand our research and engagement business, with an emphasis within the utilities and energy sector. Our business in this area is already rapidly growing and you will take a lead role in winning new business, building contacts and a reputation for creative, high-quality work

An ideal candidate is likely to have experience in public, customer, and / or stakeholder engagement and a familiarity with social research and / or design thinking methodologies. You’ll need to be agile and adaptable, with a solid background in using creative and varied process design to work collaboratively with participants.

We’re looking for someone who is equally comfortable working intensively with senior level stakeholders, leading large group sessions with the public and engaging in depth with seldom heard groups.

You will need the flexibility to work across a range of disciplines: you may not have deep knowledge of the utilities and energy sector, but will have an interest and enthusiasm to bring your research and engagement skills to lead robust and innovative projects in this sphere.

Experience is essential. This role involves directing complex or sensitive projects, large programmes of work and supporting and overseeing the work of project teams. The post holder will play a key role in the delivery of high quality, profitable projects and in developing Traverse’s reputation with clients and partners. You must engender confidence in our clients.

Remuneration & Benefits

Salary: £51-£84k+ dependent on role and experience.

We also operate a very generous holiday and benefits scheme; more details are available in the job pack available here.

We also fully support flexible working. While core hours will be required, these roles may be performed from any location in the UK. Our main office is based in London, but remote working may be a possibility.
